i’m moving.

far far away. to a way more beautiful place. what can i say? the grass was greener.

luckily it’s a box free move because really, it’s just a new blog. but don’t fret. i’ll make it easy. and while i feel i have some ’splaining to do, i assure you it’s for the better.

i love wordpress. and i love this blog. but there have been some limitations and i’m more of a free spirit. so….

because we have a lot to get through today.

first off, hi there!  i just want to let you guys know you have until 2 pm to enter the giveaway below. that’s central time. aka lunch time at my laptop.

okay. moving on to lindsay. sister*in*law extraordinaire. she has been visiting for the past month and i’m sad that she is back in her mountainy state. but, while she was here she blew me away with her talent. i was able to briefly explain an idea for a necklace and she made it happen. exactly.

i am wearing it non stop. it’s so gorgeous and i get loads of compliments. if you have ever dreamt up a piece of jewelry that you’ll never find in a store, lindsay is your girl. just contact her through her shop and you’ll be happy you did!

my favorite childhood memory is of long california nights spent at my uncle’s house. my brother and i were allowed everything and denied nothing. it was kid-bliss. swimming pools, diving boards, in&out french fries, rootbeer floats with chocolate chip ice cream dripping down the side of the cup onto the patio. i loved the days when no one cared if your feet were bare and dirty or if you made it in bed by dark.

there is a pile, nay a mountain of clean laundry sitting on my bedroom floor needing folding. there is a a stack of prints to be sent out. there are files to be filed and a birthday boy to shop for. there are classes starting soon and an internship to be found, still.

last night i proclaimed i would focus on one task at a time. tackle it all. and refocus on giving each job my best. {enter whining voice} but it’s just so hard!

ah. i know, i know. hard. yes. but half-assed is just not working. stretched thin is not working. and so, the last resort is focus. freestyle focus. forced focus. on each task at each moment. if it needs doing. do it with focus. focus. focus.

i’ll let you know how this works out for me.

weekend at the beach

declan is a fan of rain coats in the sun

i was  an unexpected momma, f0r those of you who haven’t known me long or haven’t done the math. i’m 25. they are 7 and nearly 4. and lots of things tend to surprise me along the way, as if my own childhood didn’t offer hints along the way.

most of all. it’s what comes out of those tiny rosebud lips that surprises me. my favorites-

*declan says i look like a princess anytime i wear pink or flower print. and since i’m the only girl in the house, he showers me with loving compliments about my hair, my lips, my jewels and whatnot. it’s so sincere, too!

*and yet, when i piss him off he is the first to say my art sucks.

*weston is fascinated with all thing bodily. {can we say dr. weston?} so when he learned about doggie birth control he promptly taught his brother.

*declan now asks perfect strangers if they are nuetered or ’spaydeded’. like in the grocery line, or grandma’s friends, or kids at the beach.

*weston=drama. his brother could stomp on his foot and, no matter who is watching, weston will without fail fling his hand to his face and scream, “MY EYE!”. without fail.

and all i can do is laugh. i don’t want to miss, or discourage any of this even if i technically “should”. it’s so fleeting and entertaining.

top of the morning to you all.  i have something important to say to you.

i’m on a mission. you see, someone sprinkled magic pixie dust all over my etsy shop and suddenly i’m busy running from the office supply store to the post office back to the studio all day long. thank you. thank you. thank you.

it’s ironic that i wanted nothing more than to be exactly where i am right now, but when it hits it blows my feet over my head. i was my biggest fan for so long that i’ve come to adore, no not adore, l.o.v.e. my own work. so when i have to say goodbye and ship my pieces to ireland, singapore, portland, new york and beyond, little parting tears well up.

but, today is about thanking you guys. i’m super committed to where i’m going. i will keep uping the ante for myself and hopefully we will go places, right?

so, i say to you guys..

at the risk of looking dumb, i have to tell you guys i had no idea that adults could get ear infections. i mean obviously it makes perfect sense. we all have ears, but i had only heard of babies with ear infections. and let me tell you. i get the crying and tugging. it hurts! and your whole body feels wonky. like vertigo, and feverish, and all around fussy.

so, that’s me. fussymcgee. and such imperfect timing. this was supposed to be the bestest of all weekends. gallery shows, vacations on the lake, boats, sunning, blueberry picking.

but. alas. i’m not letting a stupid ear infection ruin happy days. hope you guys have greatness planned this weekend too!
